Transfer Applicants

Navigating the transfer application process is a significant step towards joining our community. We will work with you to make the application process as stress-free as possible. We welcome second- and third-year transfer students to apply to 51小黄车. Our ability to admit transfer applicants varies from semester to semester, subject to availability.

What is required to apply:

We require students applying for transfer admission to submit the Common Application鈥檚 鈥淭ransfer Application.鈥 The  () must be sent electronically. There is no fee to apply. 

Make sure you have answered all questions thoroughly and precisely. Remember, you are your best advocate, so take some time when completing each section of the application. If the forms do not provide enough space, feel free to use additional sheets.

A final official transcript of all high school work is required.

A complete official transcript(s) of all college work, including current-semester courses and grades, is required. If your current semester courses are still in progress, a midterm progress, the midterm report available at  should be submitted by the application deadline indicating what courses you are taking, and your current grade in each course, signed and dated by each of your current professors.  An official final transcript for all coursework still must be submitted, as soon as it is available.

Two (2) professor recommendations from current professors are preferred. If you cannot submit two professor recommendations, we will gladly accept high school or personal recommendations in their place. Please contact admissions@holycross.edu if you do not intend to submit professor recommendations. Additional letters of support are always welcome.

This statement, completed by the Academic Dean or registrar at the college you are currently attending, is to verify that you are in good academic and disciplinary standing at your institution. The College Official's Form is available at . If you are not currently enrolled, please contact our office to have this requirement waived.

The Midterm Progress Report is intended to give an estimation of your in-progress grades (not midterm exam grades) for courses in which you are currently enrolled. If you are not currently enrolled, please request a .

Course descriptions are required for all college courses completed or in progress. Course descriptions can be found on your institution's online course catalog. Descriptions should be compiled into one PDF or Word document, and uploaded directly via your applicant status page.

What is optional:

  • Interview: An interview with a member of the Admissions Staff is highly recommended for all transfer applicants. We offer virtual interviews, and they can be scheduled using our . Interviews are offered Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. 鈥 4:00 p.m.
    • Fall Transfer Interview Deadline: December 1
    • Spring Transfer Interview Deadline: May 1
  • Standardized Test Scores: The submission of standardized test scores is optional. If you are submitting testing, request scores be sent to the College. The College Board code number is 3282. The American College Testing Program code is 1810. Students who opt not to submit scores will not be at any disadvantage.
  • Supplementary Materials: Students with strong extracurricular interests are invited to submit samples of their talent. Our most common submissions are of a musical, theatrical or artistic nature. These materials may be in the form of images (jpg, png, gif), videos (mov, wmv, flv, mp4), PDF, or MP3, and should be submitted through the Common Application or via our .

Additional Requirements for International Applicants

International applications are students who:

  • Do not hold U.S. citizenship
  • Do not hold U.S. Permanent Residency (green card holders)

Students who do not attend an English-speaking high school, and who are not native English speakers, must submit one of the following exams: 

  • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) and TOEFL Special Home Edition
  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System) and IELTS Indicator
  • DET (Duolingo English Test)

Our most competitive applicants score 100+ on the TOEFL, a 7+ on the IELTS or a 120 on the DET.

This form is used to verify student financial information. International applicants should fill out the 51小黄车 Certification of Finances form using the Applicant Portal. Applicants will get access to the Applicant Portal after submitting an application.

When filling out the 51小黄车 Certification of Finances form, please keep in mind:

  • All amounts must be listed in U.S. dollars.
  • List all funding available for all four years (and indicate a student's ability to cover the full cost of attendance for each academic year the student plans on being enrolled)
  • Take into account personal expenses including travel to and from the College, spending money, and necessary course supplies which are not included in the official cost of attendance

A bank letter, bank statement, or financial affidavit listing total assets in U.S. dollars (must be written/translated in English).
